Following on from last year, Kokura Yakiudon Laboratory’s special Kokura Yakiudon will be served after the finish!
“Yakiudon” is said to have originated in Kokura and is a soul food that represents Kitakyushu. It is said to have started just after the end of the war, when the owner of “Daruma-do” in Torimachi Shokudogai didn’t have any buckwheat noodles for yakisoba, so he boiled and fried dried udon and served it, which was a big hit.
Kokura Yakiudon is made with plenty of vegetables, a hearty sauce that coats the udon, and a hidden special point of adding local sake from Kitakyushu to enhance the aroma.
After the finish, enjoy the authentic Kokura Yakiudon while reminiscing on the memories of the day!
(Please note that the food served after the finish will be a choice between Kokura Yakiudon and curry, which will be introduced later.)
What is the Kokura Yakiudon Laboratory?
This is an organization run by the Kitakyushu Youth Future Academy to promote Kokura Yakiudon as a tourist resource with a deep story. They are working day and night to spread the appeal of Kokura Yakiudon through events and various activities.
